Terms of Service

The rules.

Last updated: May 14, 2026

Plain-English summary

You own what you make. Don't upload other people's copyrighted stuff. Don't be a jerk in comments. Public quizzes can be forked and starred by anyone. We use Anthropic for AI; their rules apply too. We can suspend accounts that abuse the service. We're a small project and the service is provided as-is. Full legal text below.

1. Agreement

By creating an account on QuizRun or by using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use QuizRun.

QuizRun ("the service") is operated by [Your legal name or entity] ("we," "us," "our"). You can reach us at [your@email].

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Economic Area) to use QuizRun. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

  • Keep your password secret. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password and turn on two-factor authentication immediately.
  • Give us a real, working email address. We use it for sign-in, password resets, and (very rarely) service announcements.
  • One human, one account. Don't share accounts.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use QuizRun to:

  • Break the law — including (but not limited to) intellectual property infringement, harassment, fraud, or distribution of illegal content.
  • Publish content you don't have the right to share. If you make a quiz public or unlisted, you are saying you have the right to do so. Copyrighted textbook content, exam questions you don't own, etc., do not belong in public quizzes.
  • Generate or share content involving minors in sexual contexts, non-consensual sexual content, instructions for serious physical harm, or anything else that violates Anthropic's Acceptable Use Policy. Our AI generation goes through their API and is subject to their rules.
  • Harass other users in comments. Be a good study partner; disagree without being a jerk.
  • Probe, scrape, or overwhelm our systems.Don't scrape the public home feed; don't hammer the API; don't try to access another user's private data.
  • Abuse the AI quota.Don't generate quizzes in bulk just to test our limits. We track usage per call and we'll suspend accounts that look adversarial.
  • Re-upload others' private quizzes as your own.Forks are first- class; use the fork button. Don't copy-paste someone's private quiz into a new quiz to claim authorship.

We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules. Our judgment is the final word on what counts as a violation.

5. Your content

You own what you make. Quizzes, questions, descriptions, and comments you create remain yours. By using QuizRun, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to store, display, and transmit that content as necessary to provide the service.

Public quizzes grant additional rights. When you flip a quiz to public, you grant every other QuizRun user a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to view that quiz, take it (when quiz-taking is live), comment on it, star it, and fork it into their own library. You can revoke this license at any time by flipping the quiz back to private or unlisted, or by deleting it — but existing forks (which are independent copies) are not affected, and other users may still have local copies they made before you changed visibility.

Unlisted quizzes grant similar rights to anyone you give the URL to.

Comments you post on a quiz are visible to anyone who can see that quiz. The quiz owner can delete any comment on their own quiz for moderation purposes.

6. AI-generated content

When you generate quiz questions from a file, our system extracts the content and sends it to Anthropic's Claudefor inference. The questions it returns are derived from your source material plus the model's capabilities.

  • Verify before relying. AI-generated questions can be wrong, missing context, or biased. Treat them as a starting draft. You are responsible for editing them before sharing or studying from them.
  • Source material is your responsibility.Don't upload material you don't have the right to use. Don't upload personal data of people who haven't consented.
  • Cost is metered. Each AI call is logged with the model, token usage, and cost. We may add per-tier limits on AI generation in the future and will give you notice before doing so.

7. Subscriptions and payments

QuizRun offers a free tier (currently up to 3 quizzes), Pro, and Pro Max. Pricing and tier limits are listed on the Plans page. Paid plans are not live yet; this section applies once they are.

  • Billing.Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. You agree to Stripe's terms when you provide payment information.
  • Renewal. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled. You can cancel anytime from /app/billing; you'll keep access until the end of the current period.
  • Refunds. Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by law, or at our discretion in exceptional cases.
  • Failed payments. If your card fails to charge, we'll attempt to retry it and email you. After repeated failures we may downgrade you to the free tier; you keep your data but may lose access to features beyond the free tier's limits.
  • Price changes. If we change prices we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email, taking effect at your next renewal.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Account settings → Danger zone. Deletion is immediate and permanent; we delete your data per section 6 of the Privacy Policy.

We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your use poses a security or legal risk, or if we discontinue the service. We'll give you notice when we reasonably can; we may suspend immediately if the situation requires it.

On termination, your right to use QuizRun ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive — content licenses you granted to other users for public/unlisted quizzes, payment obligations already accrued, disclaimers, and limitations of liability — continue.

9. Copyright and DMCA notices

If you believe content on QuizRun infringes your copyright, send us a notice that includes: a description of the copyrighted work, the URL of the allegedly infringing content, your contact information, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate, and your physical or electronic signature.

Send notices to [your@email]. We'll respond promptly, remove infringing content where appropriate, and notify the user who posted it.

10. Disclaimers

QuizRun is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, free of viruses or other harmful components, or that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. Use it as a study aid, not a source of truth.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither we nor our processors are liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages (including loss of data, profits, or goodwill) arising out of your use of QuizRun, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability arising out of or related to the service, on any theory of liability, will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) US $50.

12. Your indemnity to us

You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims and costs arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [your jurisdiction — e.g. State of Delaware, USA], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the service will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction, except where mandatory law gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms. If you don't agree, stop using the service.

15. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us regarding the service.
  • Severability. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of future enforcement.
  • Assignment. You may not assign your account or rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms (e.g. in a sale of the business) with reasonable notice to you.
  • Contact. Send notices to [your@email].

These Terms were drafted to match what QuizRun actually does. They aren't a substitute for review by a lawyer in your jurisdiction, especially before charging customers across countries.
